Burn
What is a ghost, if not the echo of a life cut short?
Resonating with deeds left undone?
Bound by chains of sorrow, wrath, or love?
Lost, a memory with nobody left to recall it.
This was a really challenging comic… I wanted to tell a whole story, in just a few images, without being too explicit. There is room for a n umber of different readings of what happened, and I didn’t want to be the final word. That said, it’s well outside my usual style, so it’s a stretch. I maybe should have added more fire, but overall I think it mostly scans?
Also we get a gimps into how the theater gained a haunting…
I’ve found that one of the greatest challenges of storytelling is trusting the readers to fill in for themselves the details of minutiae. Too many storytellers, be they artists or writers, try to cram too much into the tale and it bogs down, not to mention doing such can cause migraines for the creator trying to keep all the superfluous details straight. That said, I feel that you have got the meat of what you wanted down and it gives the right amount of events in sequence, but with room for reader inference and your own exposition at a later date. It is this balance that brings us all back to the wonderful universe you’ve made!
That said, I love the sort of forlorn sadness that I’m getting from just a few panels. This is going to be a fun installment!!!
Thank you so much. This really isn’t the best venue for story telling, but sometimes I just can’t help it. ^.^
I might add that it has been a treat to see how you’ve grown in the realm of storytelling and art. You’re doing fine!!!
